Microgrids for Campuses presentation available

Dr. Mohammad Mojdehi

A report published by Pike Research in 2011 projected the total installed generation capacity for campus microgrids would increase by 164% between 2011 and 2017, rising from 620 megawatts to 1.6 gigawatts. 

Higher education institutions hold a unique position in the advancement and adoption of microgrid systems. 

In the Microgrids for Campuses: Important Factors for Design and Implementation recorded presentation, OBG’s Mohammad Mojdehi, PhD discusses the many benefits for campuses to implement smart microgrids:

  • Improving the electrical system performance by accommodating renewable energy sources and storage options
  • Improving the electrical system reliability and efficiency
  • Raising awareness of students, faculty, and staff to improve energy efficiency on campus
  • Facilitating research and education

About Dr. Mohammad Mojdehi: Dr. Mojdehi provides leadership and technical guidance for OBG’s energy program, including power resiliency, microgrid/energy storage, and other advanced power applications. His areas of technical expertise include renewable energy and distributed generation support for public and private sector clients and utilities. He has performed original research, technical guidance, analytical studies, technology readiness assessments and evaluations, and modeling to assess loads for deployment of power generation and energy storage, as well as published several articles in peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
