Design-Build Task Order –
Taxiway Upgrades

As a subcontractor on a design-build project, O’Brien & Gere provided architectural-engineering services for the design portion of two taxiway projects at McGuire AFB airfield, and also supervised the surveying and geotechnical contractors. The first project intended to standardize taxiway dimensions including new design, rehabilitation, and upgrade. The second project was a full depth repair to the entire Hotel Taxiway to replace approximately 7,900 lf.

Services under both projects included: Addition of paved shoulders of 25-ft width to each to standardize the shoulder width and to increase turning radius, replacement of the existing taxiway pavement sections and shoulders for approximately 1750 lf of the Hotel Taxiway with a new 75-ft wide taxiway and 25-ft wide shoulder (each side), milling and resurfacing, storm water management, new taxiway edge lighting system, new taxiway signage and markings, coordination with the points of connection and transitions to the adjacent runways, taxiways, and current construction project.
